I received a gift certificate to a photography studio and there are NO RESTRICTIONS listed ANYWHERE on the certificate itself or the letter that I received with it. I called up the studio and they said it is only valid on wedding photography packages. Is this legal? If not, what can I do about it?
I can upload pictures of the documents if necessary.
Look at their website first. If the restriction isn't there either, then no, it shouldn't be valid. You should contact the company first, ask to speak with the owner if it's a small company and explain your position. If that gets you nowhere, then you can contact the better business bureau or your state's attorney general. Last option that I know of is to sue for the value of the certificate and court costs.
